A historical novel describing the terrible destitution which fell upon Lancashire Ormerods in the 1850's when the American Civil War cut off the supply of cotton from the Southern States and silenced the mills upon which so many thousands of people depended.

Condition: Professionally rebound in house with black paper boards with title in gilt to spine. Internally clean. Pages tanned slightly. A lovely solid copy.
